Jacqueline “Jackie” Shizuno Alba, 68, of Hilo died March 23 at St. Francis Hospice facility in Honolulu. Born in Pahala, she was formerly employed as a teller at Bank of Hawaii (Waiakea Branch), City Bank, and as a clerk at Arakaki Physical Therapy in Hilo. Visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo. Memorial service at 10 a.m. Casual attire; no flowers. Survived by husband, Albert G. Alba Jr. of Hilo; son, Kiley (Elizabeth Gamiao) Alba of Hilo; daughter, Colleen (Russell) Alba-Kuwahara of Hilo; sisters, Betty Torigoe of Honolulu and Miyako Mukai of Wisconsin; father-in-law, Albert G. Alejandrina “Andrea” P. Abarcar, 87, of Paauhau died April 8 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Haina, she was a retired waitress for the Mauna Kea Westin, a teacher’s aide for Honokaa Elementary School, and was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa, the Honokaa Saranay Club, the ILWU Pensioners’ Club, the Seniors Nutrition Center, Honokaa Salvation Army and Home League and volunteer at Hale Ho’ola Hamakua Long Term Care Facility. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa. Rosary at 6 p.m. with a wake service to follow. Douglas “DJ” Joseph Arruda, Jr., 42, of Keaau died April 2 at home. Born in Hilo, he was a custom bike builder and a mechanic/welder and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo. Joseph Ku‘ualoha Borges, 94, of Hilo died March 29 at a private care home in Hilo. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired maintenance supervisor at the Hilo International Airport, salesman for the former Hilo Iron Works, former bishop, branch president and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Keaukaha Ward and Hui Malama Ola Na Oiwi.
